Questions to ask Inside and Outside Recruiters
(Questions in RED,
Answers in Black,
and advice in
Blue)
What is an inside and outside recruiter?
An inside or in house recruiter generally works for an employer who has multiple positions available. They generally advertise their key positions and sometimes justify their salaries by avoiding placement fees whenever possible. An outside recruiter generally works for a contingency placement fee due upon the completion of a successful search and placement of a job seeking candidate. Or they offer retained or dedicated searches which involve the paying of a fee regardless of whether a specific search is successful or not. Some job boards affiliate themselves with in house recruiters and
charge job seekers a fee to write CV/resumes and prepare mail them for mailing to potential bemployers, thereby shifting fees from the employer to the job seeker.
Make sure you understand who pays the fees and how a job board or search firm charges for services.
How long has your firm been in business? Locum-Tenens.com was established in Atlanta, GA in 1980. Our average consultant has over ten years of recruiting experience.
When choosing a recruiter, ask them how long have you been a recruiter? For jobs paying in excess of $100K per year seek a recruiter with a minimum of at least five years of recruiting experience.
Do I pay for your services or does the client? Our clients pay for our services which consists of buying an advertisement on our site, paying our placement fees, or using our locum-tenens providers on a contract basis. For a permanent position, clients pay a placement fee
OR avoid placement fees by buying a job description which is published on our job board. For locum-tenens services employers pay us a contracted rate and we pay locum-tenens providers an agreed to contracted amount depending upon the length of the assignment and coverage required.
If you wish to represent yourself you may purchase an advertisement on our site as a client. Call or email for details.
How long do job seekers stay with the employers where they are placed? Locum-Tenens assignments vary from a day to years, depending upon our locums providers availability/goals that match our client's requirements. Our average beginning locums assignment is one to two weeks. For permanent positions, our goal is to match a job seeker with a career opportunity. For dedicated retained searches, we guarantee results.
Establish your short and long term career goals in advance then choose the correct means to achieve your objectives: locums only, permanent only, or locums converting to permanent.
How do you find practice opportunities for job seekers? We have an extensive proprietary database that we publish for the public of over 6,000 potential employers nationwide. Many use our job board web site for potential employer research. In addition we have a non-published database that contains confidential information about job opportunities and candidates that we do not disclose.
We also allow some of our clients to advertise jobs on our site where job seekers can contact potential employers and search firms directly about their jobs.
What’s your firm's experience with my specialty and the geographic area I want? Our job specialties are listed on the home page of our web site. We provide jobs across the U.S. With a job seekers permission, we may submit an edited profile (without identity) to a potential employer in the geographic area that you prefer or where you are licensed to work.
Be very selective who and where you send your CV.
What’s your policy on submitting CV’s? We never submit an original CV to either an employer or a search firm without the job seeker's permission. We may provide potential employers an edited profile if we feel that a candidate matches one of our published or non-published jobs.
If a firm or job board unethically shares your original confidential CV/Resume with others, such as an in house physician network of hospitals for instance, you are ruining your chances of getting the best job available.
How often can I expect to be contacted? Our computer matches jobs with candidate profiles whenever a new job is posted or when a new job seeker registers on the site. The email will show the candidate profile along with the job description. Job seekers may sign in and find their own jobs and notify us of their interest with one click. We will then contact the potential employer, and if they respond, we will notify the job seeker that there is a mutual interest and put them in touch. Generally we work via email but we will contact either the employer, search firm, or candidate in the manner they prefer.
Find out how your chosen firm prefers to contact you and how often.
Our consultants can find the right job opportunity for you in the right practice setting and location, saving you time, money, headaches, and resources. Using a recruiter is free to you. In addition, our
consultants have access to jobs nationwide with major healthcare systems and networks, leading private groups, clinics, and government agencies - positions you many never find on your own.
Locum-Tenens.com Consultants can also find you immediate jobs in most specialties and locate more opportunities through their broad network of contacts, what better way to find a position than being paid to interview as a Locums.
